Luca Barberis. Growth, Go-To-Market & P&L Operator.
Fifteen years building and scaling consumer and B2B technology platforms across Asia and Europe.
Luca Barberis has spent fifteen years scaling consumer and B2B technology platforms across Southeast Asia and Europe. He has led commercial teams and owned P&Ls at JD.com, TripAdvisor's Eatigo, and Rocket Internet's ZALORA, and started his career at Google.
He is a Director at JD.com's Indonesian operation, where he runs the fashion, beauty, and sport categories, social commerce, and DTC. Before that he managed markets for Eatigo across Singapore and Indonesia, and ran ZALORA in Hong Kong and Malaysia. Across these marketplaces, roughly half his time went to the supply side, signing and growing the brands, merchants, and restaurants that make the model work, which is a business-to-business discipline as much as a consumer one. Earlier, he founded a digital publishing and ad-tech business that grew to around a million daily readers.
He studied at a classical lyceum, read economics at the University of Genoa, and took a master's in finance, accounting, and commercial law at Bocconi. Design and aesthetics are a personal hobby, and he has written two works on the subject in his own time. He writes now and then, and keeps a few small side projects of his own.
